Gurmmeet Singh while talking to PTI during an interview said that when they started off in Season 1, they are going into an action-crime-drama-thriller, the characters were much younger. The colour of the first season was raw because the characters were young people with angst and testosterone. The character were trying to find a space for themselves in a place like UP. The depiction of whether it was language or violence was also like that, in your face, brutal and aggressive.
While talking about Mirzapur Season 2, the director said that when they came to season two, they matured. They saw and understood things and made sure that only when the story requires they would get into something like violence. The impact of violence was still there but it was treated as aspect of character’s journey.
Gurmeet said that the character of Mirzapur are back for Season 3, the characters are in position where they are dealing with power. Due to this, there is a certain madness to it. Gurmmeet says that it is for the audience to tell the makers and they are open to feedback. Gurmmeet said that it is upto the audience to tell them if the portrayal is shown validly or not. He further added that they are open to criticism. It is done keeping in mind the story and what will drive the story forward with a certain level of maturity that they are gaining through the show as they go along.
Gurmeet Singh replied to the question of the reason for four years gap between season 2 and season 3 he said that due to the pandemic the season 3 project was delayed by one and a half year. Furthermore, he said that the creators wanted a watertight writing for the season 3.
