The actor was asked whether the cast and crew had attempted to connect and understand the local population residing in the place in any way to which he responded positively by saying that they were quite pleased to meet and interact with the people there, and the shooting has gone fairly well at the site.
The actor reminisced about having an interesting encounter with a person he met while boarding a flight one day. He recalled that he was on his way back on a flight from Bangalore, where he met a man who thanked him respectfully. The actor asked the person the reason behind his gesture, to which the man responded by saying that when he used to frequently visit Chennai to contribute to his business, where he was forced to say that he was from Banaras. He further explained that after the release of the series Mirzapur, he does not have to say that he hails from Banaras anymore, because he now proudly says that he is from Mirzapur.
The actor also spoke about the traditions associated with the place. He mentioned that the folk song, Kajari can be heard in the background, but the brief history of the song has not been enlisted anywhere, so a common viewer watching the show might not pick that up, however, the one who understands and interprets the culture and traditions well would instantly understand and decipher the importance. Kajari is an Indian folk song genre from the Northern Part of India, which is mainly performed in the monsoon season in the months starting from June to September. It is performed during a time when agricultural labor starts taking place in certain regions. The songs describe the intricate beauty of rain and the pain that comes from being separated from a loved one.
The interviewer questioned the ground reality of the place of Mirzapur by saying that even if the story is entirely fictional, violent movies or Television series tend to build a certain negative perception of a place, and that could be the case with Mirzapur. The actor proceeded to defend the place by saying that the series is entirely imaginative, and the instances should not be related to real life. He proclaimed Mirzapur to be a tranquil and pleasant place, even if it is portrayed as violent in the show.
