Restaurant chain Social partners Cityflo to run experiential bar hop

Restaurant and bar chain Social has partnered Cityflo, a bus-mobility firm to run Mumbai’s first experiential Bar Hop, hoping public-transit formats can double as social or cultural spaces.

The experiment marks a shift for Cityflo, which is exploring how buses, usually associated with office commutes, might support community-led gatherings or entertainment-driven formats.

“Cityflo has always been known as a dependable, reliable partner for the daily home-to-office commute,” said chief marketing officer Sankalp Kelshikar. “With this collaboration, we wanted to create a unique onboard experience that shows a bus can be a fun, engaging space on wheels that everyone in the city can be part of.” He added that pairing with Social was a seamless fit, citing the brand’s focus on hyperlocal, culturally driven programming.
Last week, about 30 participants joined the four-hour event, travelling across three Social outlets on a Cityflo bus fitted with a DJ console and guided interactions as bar stops with onboard games and music.

Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality chief growth officer Divya Aggarwal said the event was designed to reflect how Mumbai’s nightlife flows across neighbourhoods. “We wanted to create an experience that didn’t just introduce a new drinks menu but reflected how the city truly connects,” she said. Turning mobility into “a cultural canvas,” she added, was a way to turn strangers into a community over the course of the route.

While the Bar Hop was framed as a one-off pilot, the companies said the strong turnout could encourage more mobility-based experiences. Coffee chain abcoffee had earlier partnered with mobility firm Cityflo to pilot a service that lets passengers pre-order drinks and have them delivered directly on select city bus routes.
